In this post, I’ll show you how to get rid of a UTI without antibiotics. This is such an easy trick! I wish I had known it years ago. It’s all about changing the pH in our urinary system and it’s a super easy thing to do with ingredients you probably already have on hand. If you are struggling with a painful UTI that keeps coming back, read this how to get rid of a UTI without going to the doctor article! I am sure it will help you. Also, make sure to check the comment section below for many more suggestions from other readers like Alka Zeltzer for UTI.

I used to be a truck driver. My ex-husband and I owned an eighteen wheeler and drove all over the US and Canada. We lived on the road for two years.

It was a great adventure. First, it certainly teaches you a thing or two about yourself and your spouse. Not to mention it puts your relationship to the test, living in a rolling box with one twin bed and that’s pretty much it (we enjoyed that adventure but obviously our relationship didn’t last…).

Second, it was a lot of fun spending each day in a different place. Moving around. Exploring, meeting new and interesting people.

I just wish we’d had a working toilet in the truck.

One thing I do not miss is gas station restrooms. Imagine using only gas station restrooms for two years in a row and not having a decent place to wash off after you do the deed, if you know what I mean… Psheee! I had more urinary tract infections than hairs on my body. And believe me, I have some hair on my body.

OK, this last paragraph was totally disgusting!

Oh well…

Man, I wish I knew this simple (and I mean ridiculously simple…) trick of how to get rid of a UTI without antibiotics back then. Would’ve saved me major pain and discomfort, not to mention gas and time. Can you imagine trying to find a clinic with an eighteen wheeler parking spot.

Yeah, not happening.

Let’s cover the basics for a moment…

What is a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)?

UTI is an infection in the bladder.

What Cases a UTI?

UTI is caused by bacteria that travel through the urethra, which is the tube that transfers urine from our bladder to the outside of our body.

Women especially are prone to a UTI because we have a shorter urethra and because the opening of our urethra is close to the anus. Bacteria (such as E. coli) from the large intestine can leave through the anus and find it’s way to the opening of the urethra.

Talk about bad design!

Anyway, this is why we should always clean from front to back after using the restrooms.

If not treated, the infection can spread and reach the kidneys.

What are the Symptoms of UTI?

You can’t miss it. You’ll want to go to the restrooms frequently, even though very little comes out when you are there. When you try to pee, it will burn. Your urine might smell different or have a different color. You might feel tired, shaky, and have back or lower stomach pain. In some cases, you might even have a fever.

How to Get Rid of a UTI Without Antibiotics?

Before I got into natural, homemade medicine, I did what most people do. I ran to the doctor. Time after time after time. I ran to the doctor, and he or she prescribed antibiotics that will kill the bad bacteria. The only problem was that it killed the good bacteria as well, leaving my body exposed to bad bacteria.

The cycle never ended. I had one infection after another.

This little trick here helped me find instant relief from UTI pain and a complete cure within 3 or 4 days without the use of antibiotics! It saved me a trip to the doctor, and I got to keep my good bacteria.

But first, it’s time for the disclaimer…

**I am not a doctor. Nor I will ever be. In this post, I share with you how I cured my UTI without using antibiotics. This way might not be the right way to take care of your particular body. **

So here is what I used:

1 teaspoon of baking soda.

8 oz of water or juice. I used cranberry-grape juice because it is super sweet and helps hide the salty taste of the baking soda a bit.

All I did is mix the baking soda with the juice or water and drink it. I did this three times a day for three days and my UTI was gone. I would have continued another couple of days if it wasn’t gone, but no more than a week (please take the time to read comment number 4 below for additional information about the risks of using baking soda). I felt an almost instant relief in pain by the end of the first day, and by the end of the third day, my body was back to normal.

Baking soda is an alkaline substance. It helps neutralize the acidity of the urine and helps the body fight the infection.

Always try to prevent first. Drink a lot of water, have clean sex and urine right after, wipe from front to back after using the restroom, and avoid irritating feminine products. I also suggest that you make sure to strengthen your immune system naturally by using essential oils. Read more here: How to Boost Your Immune System With Essential Oils.

However, if you find yourself running to the restroom every fifteen minutes and cursing like a sailor when you are there, try this trick. It solved my problem quickly.

  1. You have a great friendship writing style. I feel like I can look over the fence and talk to you. I love using baking soda. Baking soda has worked for me in the past for UTIs. But I kept getting UTIs and the D-Mannose has worked better for me.

    1. Thank you for the kind words! And thanks for stopping by. I didn’t have a UTI since I started using essential oils so I never had the chance to try d-mannose but I can tell from the comments here that it’s helping a lot of people!

      1. There are essential oils that are specifically for UTI. Personally, I didn’t have a UTI in years. What I do is take essential oils like supplements. I have empty capsules at home and every day I add a couple of drops of a few different doTERRA oils in there (making a “cocktail”) and I take it in addition to a woman’s supplement to balance hormones.
This keeps me healthy. But again, if you have a UTI, there are specific oils that you can take internally and rub on the lower abs.

      2. Would you be able to specify on the names of the essential oils? And how many drops you use per gel cap? Thank you!

      3. So I use doTERRA essential oils and I buy oil every month. Every time I purchase something else so I have a huge selection and am ready for whatever comes. I divide my oils into two groups on the shelf. One side has all the oils that are ok to take as a supplement (doTERRA has it listed on the bottle) and the other side is all the oils that I can’t take as supplements.
In the evening I open an empty capsule and add two drops of a few different oil until the capsule is full. It will be different oils each evening but I usually always have a couple for immune support and cellular support in there like DDR Prime, Zendocrine, Frankincense, oregano… And then I fill the rest with different oils.
For UTI, if you have it you can try to both take oils as supplements and also apply topically on the lower abs. Try oregano, cinnamon, frankincense, clove, on guard, lemongrass, tea tree, and juniper berry.
        I hope this helps.

  2. I am very susceptible to urinary tract infections. I used to be on daily antibiotics as a preventative, but after a couple years those really started to do a number on my whole body.

Now I am off antibiotics, and instead I take 2 of the Lady Soma Cranberry Concentrate every morning with my tea. These keep me feeling good and keep the UTIs away! Good stuff!!

Also, fyi …. on the very infrequent occasion where I feel like a UTI is coming on, I immediately use this product that knocks it out pronto.

    1. I agree Briana! The Lady Soma Cranberry Concentrate has stopped my UTIs from ever occuring. Life saver

  3. Sometimes, if one takes all the precautions one researches online, through different health practitioners, professionals, close friends, advisors, counselors, etc, one might receive & act on the antibiotics, therapies, pain remedies, or other such applications as recommended.
Then take tons of probiotics and live yogurt or Kiefer products, as soon as the round of RX’s, remedies, therapies are utilized & completed. Take them, in accelerated or frequent enough quantities & durations, MIXED with faith, prayer & declarations, according to the WORD of the Lord God & by the Spirit of the Most High Father/Creator God, In the Matchless Name of Jesus’Christ.
I did this recently as I was hit with an affliction, with an infection that was enormous enough, beyond my usual, daily abilities to handle all of it through my regular resources.
I applied all the conditions I just listed for you, went into serious intercessions for myself & my beloveds, just as I am doing now for you, your beloved sick one, and your family.
I just completed all that I itemized, and am still loading up with the follow -up activities, ALL under the leading of the Spirit for both my Mate/Best Friend/ Spouse/Snooky Pooh/ Confidante’/ Husbandman/Prayer Warrior/Snuggly Bear/Cohort/Companion and Me!!
I am now ‘on the mend’, deeply grateful for all counsel and the leading of the Spirit of the Living God & His Word. We all reign in Christ Jesus concerning all these things.
May the Grace, Mercy, Wisdom, Compassion of the Lord lead all of you, concerning these things for you, parents, and the family, with all healings, wholeness, & guidance for your grandchild, without any ‘religiosity’, ‘man-made ‘churchianity’, bondage or oppression from human beings or the enemy, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

  4. I get UTI’s so frequently and I had to resort to antibiotics more often. I had tried everything natural to try and stop it, but nothing has worked better than the Lady Soma Cranberry Concentrate. I’m not getting anything free for writing this, I just wanted to write a review for the girl out there like me that might read these words.

I tried the Lady Soma Cranberry Concentrate on a whim because my cranberry pills weren’t working, straight d-mannose wasn’t working. I take two anytime I feel even a hint of anything happening and it takes care of it. I also take one after sex. This is amazing and I thank the people out there who make it cuz without it I would have to resort to antibiotics, and now I only have to resort to them in emergencies!

  5. Thank-you all for are the comments . I really gained a lot of info and took two pages of notes that I will pass to my daughters. It has been some colorful reading 🙂 I love natural remedies and will always try them first.

  6. For several generations in my family we have used a mixture of half a tablespoon of Epsom salts, one lemon juiced, stirred into eight ounces of water and ice.
I do not understand some of the comments, why do you feel you have the right to be condecending, snide, and just plain viscous? Get a grip, take it or leave the advise. Learn something, be kind or just don’t comment.

    1. Thank you Sonya. We are all so different, there is no one thing that works for everyone except of water and air maybe.
Epsome salt and lemon in a glass of water sounds like something that will keep you healthy. I should give it a try.
      Thanks for stopping by!

  7. So I’ve been feeling a lot of pressure when I urinate, burning when I urinate, urinate frequently with little coming out. I’m a nurse and of course, I’m positive I have a UTI. I called my MD yesterday but she hasn’t called me back and in a effort of desperation I stopped by the store, bought cran-cherry juice and baking soda. After just one dose so far I already feel relief! WOW, I am so happy right now. I’ll continue as described above and hope for the best.

  8. Even better than baking soda is a natural supplement called d-mannose. Can purchase online or at a health food store. It keeps E. coli from attaching to bladder lining. IT really works.

  9. Why on earth would you say such mean things to this person who was simply trying to help other ladies? People take a lot of things worse than baking soda. Baking soda is useful in natural treatments as are cranberries. Antibiotics are not always a good answer to an infection because they can lead to fungal infections, etc. Whole cranberry, cranberry sauce is a good choice to prevent UTI’s. The juices are only about 10% actual juice, unless you go organic. Look at the stuff that comes out of your mouth before saying it or writing it.

  10. New research shows that cranberry juice does nothing for UTI’s. I am not against anything natural to treat UTI’s but caution needs to be used. With antibiotic resistant germs, a UTI that keeps recurring is a concern. An untreated UTI can lead to sepsis and death. Constant UTIs need to be cultured and see what type of antibiotic will treat the infection. that being said sometimes the problem isn’t a UTI but is interstitial cycitis, inflammation of the bladder. A change in diet helps this condition dramatically. Cranberry juice does not.

  11. Until I turned 40ish I never had a UTI as an adult but I’m getting them all the time … This method is a life saver for me as I know how bad antibiotics are for our system killing off good stuff along with the bad.. Same deal as Chemo 🙁 …

Out of desperation went to the doctors last night and sure enough I have a UTI and have Antibiotics.. Think I’ll try this method for a few days and see if it goes away and save the antibiotics incase it doesn’t work..

    Thank you!!!

  12. So…. last night I thought I had one, but then felt better today. Just now, just as the urgent care clinic is closing and the pharmacies are closing before I can get to them, your email comes to my inbox. I will look at it as a grace from God. In all honesty, I am all for natural methods, but (again in all honesty) afraid of them. I am afraid I will do something worse to my body, and even worse yet: get a pathetic patronizing look from a doctor over my attempts and failures. But, without help for the next 12 hours, I guess I will try these options. I have to get to Walgreens to get cranberry juice. I wonder, will the supplements work as well? And maybe they will have the D-manoose stuff (or whatever it is). I may do alka seltzer instead of baking soda, both basically are the same thing, from what I understand.

Wish me luck! (and maybe say a prayer for me… ) 🙂

    1. Don’t be afraid of natural remedies! I know they are so new to so many of us, even though they are around much longer than all the chemicals. Start slow and listen to your body, it will tell you if something is not right. I know those things always happen on Friday night, this is how it is for us too.
Come back to let me know what you ended up doing and if it helped. Good luck!

  13. My Doctors told me that most women have vaginost. Sorry for the spelling. They recommend probiotics and cranberry pills every day to prevent having uti. So far I haven’t had one in 3 years knock on wood.
